Current Water Restrictions
Lafayette Water Restriction Information
As required by our Intergovernmental Agreement with the City of Lafayette, the District implements any watering restrictions that are implemented by the City of Lafayette. If there are restriction(s) in effect, they will be described on their website here.
East Boulder County Water District is Currently in Stage 1 Drought Response
Effective April 10, 2026
Stage 1 targets a total demand reduction of up to 10%, with an outdoor watering reduction of up to 17%, to help ensure that our water supply remains sufficient for the community’s needs.
Stage 1 Water Restrictions
Residents should keep irrigation systems off until May. Drought stages depend on both water supply and community use. Using less water now may help us prevent additional restrictions. After May, twice is nice.
NO water waste – prevent overrun of water on any area not covered in vegetation, such as sidewalks, curbs, driveways, streets, and other paved areas.
NO watering of outdoor landscaping between 10am and 6pm
NO washing of paved areas, such as driveways, with a hose or power washer is permitted.
EBCWD follows all water restrictions set by the City of Lafayette. For more details on the stages of drought responses, please refer to the City of Lafayette website.: https://www.lafayetteco.gov/4302/Drought-Planning-Response
June 2022 New Permanent Restriction
Outdoor irrigation is limited to a maximum of 3 days per week.
November 6, 2013 New Permanent Restrictions
Lafayette City Council has determined that three water conservation measures put into place during the 2013 drought should be enacted as permanent restrictions. An ordinance (ORDINANCE NO. 27, Series 2013) was passed on November 6, 2013 to implement these restrictions. They thought that these practices were prudent, regardless of drought conditions. The restrictions are summarized as follows and more information concerning conservation can be found on the Lafayette web site (www.cityoflafayette.com/gogreen).
No outdoor irrigation may occur between the hours of 10 am and 6 pm. (hand hose watering is okay)
Excessive overrun of water is prohibited
Washing of paved area is not allowed
